A duck that turns into a girl who turns into the magic girl named Princess Tutu. Sounds dumb, neh?
I started watching this series because of an amazing AMV of Princess Tutu done to "Hall on mig" by Nanne Gronvall. The AMV creater is a pretty well-known one: alkampfer81. I read reviews about the anime before I saw it and most people gave it a 4/5 stars, so my interest was peeked.
The series starts out very silly but plot and character development start right away, and I coulnd't help but love the main character simply called "Duck" (Ahiru). She's really cute and a total spaz, like Kodacha without the self-righteous attitude. It's set in a fantastical world centered on a college of arts kind of place. I had a hard time disliking any of the characters by the time the series ended and I was rather depressed when it did; not because the ending was sad, it's too shoujo for that, but because I wanted to see more of the characters and their little world.
I really liked this anime and highly recommend it for people who like Fushigi Yuugi, Kodacha, Pretear, Kalaido Star, or Utena, etc. I give the series and 9.5/10. It looses .5 because of the way they leave the main character - no spoilers, but it did kinda bother me. ;)
