What does everyone like more Japanese with English Subtitles or English Dubs?
I personnally hate 99.99999999% percent of all dubbed voiceovers. Often they choose voices that completely make you have a different oppinion about the character's personality, and/or sound really cheasy and exaduraded. Plus Dubbs usually change the content of what was actually said.
Eric - umm...did you write that right? For some reason, I had you pegged as a fan of subs. I didn't know you liked American Voice actors.
I, personally, will watch only a select few dubs. I used to be more open-minded about dubs, but I've become spoiled in my old age and prefer subs, now.

Well I personally dont care what the audio is as japanese sounds like english to me after about 5 min, so as long as the voice choices line up with the characters then any audio selection is fine with me... except spanish... or french... or german...
...especially not spanish.
I'm not biased againist dubs unless the actual translation is drastically inaccurate... or unless its a Naruto, or Bounty Dog.
Sadly, I think that's my biggest gripe with most dubs...they're almost always far more innacurate than subs. -_- Like I said, I'm spoiled. I lived with too many anime fans who lived in Japan...and now a dislike for dub has been passed on... ;)
I was also actually more confused by your post where you talk about "listening" to subs....

I can't stand losing ANY little bit of information, no matter how insignifican it may be to the plot. For example, for many people, they believe the Fruit Basket dub to be accurate enough that subs need not be shown. However, the last few episodes are filled with much action and dramatics, and some of this is cut out (for example, one persons vomitting from intense stress) -- and I feel that even a small cut such as that in the English dub seriously retracts from the accurate conveyance of that main character's personal involvement.
But anyway -- this is the precise reason we show Sub vs. Dub discussion panels at TLO's club meetings. My favorite: One Piece sub vs. dub.

Subs all the way! Though dubs aare good and have been getting better (in some respects lol). At least companies are choosing to keep the original soundtracks instead of doing horrible translations or originals in Enlgish (-.-*).
I only sell original Japanese sub in my Shoppe, cause that's what most people like, as well. Anime is almost like a fine roll or sushi: it's best enjoyed in its original form, not done by people who don't know what they are doing
in SMS and SM SuperS they did, at least. But One Piece....gosh....it's a shame! Other sources of totally horrible Americanized OSTs include "Tenchi" & "Shin-chan", to name a few.

This is a major sub vs dub to look at because I know the pain of what they did to my beloved One Piece. Plus I just think that when you own the anime on DVD you should watch the subs cause that is the original way it was viewed. I have no problem watching dubs just as long as they are on TV and not making my ears bleed, to further that point all ADV female roles make my ears bleed ( way to high pitched),
I wanna be a voice actorrrrr T^T I think the dub-actors should be made to watch at least the first few episodes of the anime in japanese, so they can get a feel for the character's personality. I don't think it's necessary for the actual voices to sound the same, but it is always frusterating when the english actors change the personality of their character. But then, I know some really bad Japanese voice actors too.... like Card Captor Sakura, they all sound so squeaky like mice = p
