A clumsy high school girl on the track team has no memory before a year ago and has been staying with an ex-Vietnam soldier and his two other "adopted" children. I've only seen the first four episodes thus far, but first and foremost, if you are looking for something like Blood: The Last Vampire, you should look somewhere else.
It appears Blood+ is by the same studio that produced Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. The same studio is also working on/worked on xxxHolic, FLCL, Patlabor, and a few other well known series/OVAs. The work on Blood+ is top quality. It resembles Ghost in the Shell: SAC far more than the original Blood: The Last Vampire movie (which this particular studio also worked on).
Blood+ in plot, however, much much closer to something like Princess Miyu meets Ceres. Or Hellsing gone horribly horribly shoujo. There are few traces of the movie to be found in this TV series. The only similarity between the main characters is that they share the same name. They are supposed to be the same woman, seperated by a span of years, yet nothing of Saya from the movie is even remotely similar to Saya in the series. Except that they both like swords. And killing things.
So far, I am very much enjoying this series, however. I just don't think they should try to pass it off as a Blood: the Last Vampire continuation. It really doesn't have the same feeling, animation, or quality of the movie. The series is really well done in it's own right.
Animation: 10/10 Artwork: 10/10 Characters: 8/10 (-2 for Saya) Music: 10/10 (The opening is quite good, actually.) 靑空のナミダ Plot: 9/10
These numbers are subject to change as I see more of the series. ;)

Wow, It got good grades:) This one has been on my "too watch list" along with like 30 other anime for a while>.< Looks like I'm going to have to find some time to watch it^.^
haha, not thats ok you don't need to go through the effort. I have like 500+ hours of other anime that I've been meaning to watch that I have siiting on my computer, but haven't had time to watch>.< Ouran, Naruto, xxx-holic, Bleach, Tsubasa Chronicles, and just starting HunterX Hunter is taking up all my time at the moment.
Know how that goes. Right now, I'm primarily concentrating on xxxholic, Air, Rozen Maiden, and Blood+; those are the ones on my computer. We're also watching Kyo Kara Maoh, and Twelve Kingdoms on DVD slowly, since we have netflix.

50 episodes, only recently begun release in the US. Last episode aired in Japan 9/23/06 Lots of blood in this anime, and one quasi- not quite rape scene?
Animation: 9/10 (Quality goes down about 3/4 through the series) Artwork: 10/10 Characters: 8/10 (-1 for Saya, -1 Haji getting his ass kicked in EVERY episode. Usually by being impaled.) Music: 10/10 (The opening is quite good, actually.) 靑空のナミダ Plot: 8/10 (Interesting concept, not always acted out the best, -1 for killing off my favorite character. -_-).
Updated review.
A really interesting, pretty series. It has nothing to do with the movie, for sure; it's set in an "alternate universe" since the events from the movie do not correspond to what happens in the anime. It is possible to squeeze the events from the movie into the timeline, but only if you discount some missing characters and a few plot holes.
