Summary: (may contain some spoilers...)
Sousuke Sagara, a mercenary currently working for the secret organization Mythril, is sent on the secret mission, to act as the body gaurd for a Japanese high School girl Kaname Chidori. Another "bad guy" organization is after her because they believe she is a "whispered"~ which is a person that subconsciously has knowledge about insane technology. To guard her Sagara becomes a student at her school.
Unfortunatly Sagara has been in the military since he was 8 (when he was a terrorist in the middle east) so he has no idea how to live a civilian life. He often tackles random people to the ground with a gun to their head if he thinks their suspicious, or runs into the girl's locker room for fear that there are spying devices in the water sprinklersXD He stalks her around, but Chidori isn't an idiot and she gets really ticked that he keeps follower her around and being such a moron at school (she's the class president), and she isn't shy to totally tell him out or hit him with big fold up fansXD
Anyways the rest of the series follows around the intent of those trying to kidnap chidori, Sagara's past, and love development between the two of them^.^ And somewhere in there a mecha with .... psycic telikenetic like powersXD
Full metal panic is a combination of both action and comedy~ but I feel both were done and injustice is the first season. Fumoffu is entirely comedy, and is based of the crazy things that Sousuke does at school. The second raid is by far the best of the 3~ while it cuts back on comedy its story is much better and the animation has a boost as well^.^ (I haven't actually seen the movie though)
Overall for a mecha series this isn't bad. It has an interesting enough story and parts can be very funnyXD
