Summary:
The word the story takes place in is Japan, but its a Japan that has been taken over by "the Brittanians," that have conquerred nearly all the world except parts of Europe and China. Japan is renamed "section 11" and the citizens renamed "elevens" and are considered 2nd class citizens by the rulinng Britanians.

The story starts off with the 2nd year high schooler (from an elite Britanian private school) Lelouch Lamperouge outsmarting rich business men in his favorite game Chess (and betting tons of money on itXD). He's heading back to school wich he happens to be skipping and he and his friend are nearly run off the road by a speeding truck. The truck takes a sharp turn and crashes. Lelouch decides to go help, and tries to break in the back, but the driver wakes up and begins speeding away. It happens that he is in the truck of a terrorist who stole a "top secret weapon" from the Britania army.

Eventually the truck stops underground in the tunnels, and the "secret weapon" wich many thought was a poisonous gas is opened by the near dead driver. The "secret weapon" happens to be a green haired girl with an emblem on her head. Lelouch is surrounded by Britanian soldiers who think he's a terrorist and the fire at him, but the mysterious girl blocks it and is shot in the head.

Lelouch realizes his powerless state, but the mysterious girl (who's name is C.C.) makes a contract with him and gives him the special powers of the Geass. With this power Lelouch is able to comand any one within eye contact with him to do whatever he wishes (and with that he commands the angry soldiers to kill themselvesXD).

We eventually find out that Lelouch has a serious hatred of the Britanian government and ruling noble family for his mother being murdered and his sister being blinded and handicapt. He desides to help the terrorists with his Geass and uber tactical skills to defeat the Britanian government and restore Japan. The Name of this group is "the Black Knights" defenders of Justice... or are they just an outlet for Lelouch to get revenge?

On the other side of the Story Lelouch's best friend Suzaku (the son of the deceased last prime minister of Japan) is a soldier for the Britanian army. While by code "elevens" aren't given very high positions Suzaku is the pilot of an experimental "Knight" (mecha) named the Lancelot. While he realizes that the Britanian Government is corrupt he doesn't think war and a revolution is wise and will only lead to more blood shed. He wants to work hard to fix things from with in the system. Often times Lancelot and the Black Knights battle against one another, but both Suzaku and Lelouch are unaware they are up against one another. Suzaku seems like the do gooder that know no evil~ but in fact he has a dark past that eats at his concsious.

The feel of the story is like Gundam + Death noteXD But for a mecha wich I'm usually critical of, this is an ok anime. It has an interesting plot and supernatural element to it that helps. The characters are all pretty cool (except for random school mates that no one cares about and are only present for Cheezy side humorXD).

On a completely side note who likes subliminal messagesXD Eat more Pizza HutXD

O.o You had to remind me...

Here's some confirmed spoilers for the second season, courtesy of anime magazines from japan. (Found on Anime News Network, which is right 99% of the time)

Well last the 2 episodes aired and.... GOD WHERES THE SECOND SEASON?!!!!!!! THEY CAN'T DO THIS TO ME!!!!!! On another note Suzaku is an a-hole, and CC is a definite primary reason for watching this....

yeah... I'm thinking they made us wait like what? 6 months for 2 eps of the finaleXD Wouldn't surprise me if they made us wait another 6 months for the next seasonTT_TT and they always leave off at such a crucial moment...

I agree... Suzaku is one of the most annoying characters ever~
His simularity to Shyoaran's character, since it was animated by clamp, saved him at the beggining of the series for me, but he's gone beyond the realm of annoying... That crazy chick with the glasses that had the hots for Euphie is the only one that beats him on the annoying scale... but she luckily doesn't have much air time...

Lelouch is my reason for watching this, though C.C. is tolerable compared to most of the other female roles in the show... O.o
