Summary: The story starts off in a small country town. They are being terrorized by X-robot Samurai, who steel their rice every year. The town can't take it any more and the water priestess decides to go on a journey to the city to hire 7 samurai warriors to protect their village and defeat the Robot Samurai.
The priestess, a random villager, and little girl set out to the village with all to pay the samurai's is the little rice they have left. Once in the village they meet a random managerie of samurai, most of whom are a bit odd... Unfortunatly they end up getting chased down by emperor of the city who wants the samurai dead. The emperor seems to have a currupt hold on the land, and a lot of dark secrets.
This series overall is good... and I liked the characters, but for the life of me, even when I was watching the show they aren't kind of names that you remember. The plot tries a bit too hard, while it is interesting all I really seemed to care about was the Samurai VS Metal Samurai showdowns... wich there isn't a great amount off till the end of the series. The second 1/2 of the series is far better than the first. I was pretty happy with the animation, but they throw some random 3-d effects in that ruin the mood occasionally.
For some reason this show seems like a mix of Star Wars + Old samurai moviesXD They even have the Sweet innocent "aniken skywalker" becomes a miserable brooding darth vader sub-plot... The main samurai also reminds me a lot of qui-gon jin in looks and attitude. The main story focuses on those two, but there are a lot of characters to pic favorites fromXD
The fighting is pretty good, although through the entire show you doubt the realism in little samurai being able to beat up Mecha-sized robotsXD... ALthough the show can be a little slow at times the ending is well done^.^ (although very sadT.T) The only REAL negative thing I have to say about this show is the the main bad guy is a perverted wussy guy that likes to wear clown makeup...for some reason he reminds me of Henry Mcdoogal from Outlaw star... except he doesn't say KILL as much^.^
Just for a random fact this anime is based off of the 1954 japanese movie "7 Samurai"
