Blood: The Last Vampire has spawned two manga, and is based on a series of novels. This I knew. What I didn't know was that there is a TV series, Blood+, already available in Japan.
Blood: tLV is an awesome gorgeous movie and if the series sucks (no pun intended!) I will be QUITE ANNOYED. ^.^

From what I remember during its Japanese TV run it got mixed reviews, the animation doesnt compare with the Film version theough, however whats-her-name that is a main character in the film is less gothic looking in the TV series and in my opinion superior, also there are quite a few lesbian undertones throughout.
Hey...I LIKED the way Saya looks in the movie. She's so much more bad-ass with pigtails. But now I have the movie and the series and I'm going to watch at least some of both tonight. ^.^

No I dont mean her appearence is superior in the tv series, I mean she has more charcter value. aka she interacts with more people and you get more backstory. The Film was lacking in backstory, since it was only 30 minutes (about). Although I have to admit in the film she is rather ugly, over all I cant say I like her period, in either series. She just doesnt wow me, in any way. Tell me your opinion of the series when you get a chance.
I'm going to post a review of what I've seen of the series so far in a few minutes. Saya has always been a favorite character design of mine, actually. I've never thought of her as ugly. I will agree that she is a hard character to like, however, if you've only seen the movie. But I've seen the movie and read both manga (they suck, btw). I'm interested in reading the novels now, but it looks like Dark horse hasn't finished releasing them all yet.

You know, I've never seen this movie. I saw it at the KoP Mall for $9 (PSP Video), and I was considering buying it just because it was $9, but some fellow otakus who were with me said it wasn't worth it.

Really? I like that movie, a lot. It's a little hard to get used to, since it's in english and japanese. But I thought the animation quality was awesome and the plot was far more interesting than other things I'vc seen. WCU used to show it every year in the theater for Halloween. ^.^

I agree with Ashley that Blood: TLV is worth seeing, if only for the animation style, and killing scenes, also the audio is Uber quality, watching Blood on VHS is like watching a dvd (in regards to sound).
Actually I like the duel audio method imployed in the film, I just wish it was employed more often in other films/series.
Obviously its not capable of being the best in any category, but I would say it fits in with the grouping for new age classics. aka its a must see.

I like the dual audio as well, but if you've never seen the movie before, or you really dispise American voice actors, it can take a little while to get used to. I was disppointed that it wasn't in the TV series, although she often calls for her sword in English.

It's really hard to get, actually. We usually have to reserve it several months in advance, and even then, we haven't been able to get in there in about three years. :( I might try to something for next semester. It'd be nice to get in there again...

After reading more into it... (in wikipedia wich of course is always 100% accurateXD)~~~ The movie is supposed to take place in Post WWII japan.
I guesse that would make sense and fill out the timeline (between every 30 or so years) and in the physical direction saya and Haji traveled during those years.
The Zoo--->Revolutionary Russia--->WWII japan--->Vietnam--->Blood+ present.
That's awesome. It's actually already been posted to imdb too, but I'm kinda afraid to look into it any more than that...seems like everytime I get excited about a movie or TV series, it gets cancelled... *sniffle*
