I was thinking about using this movie as part of an East Asia unit for 9th graders . Do you think it would be a too much, note i would not show the whole movie, I think the movie holds value to history and culture but i felt to put it up to the experts.

It is not completely accurate but it gives a different spin on life in Japan during the war, possibly to give the Japanese a more humane view, as oppose to the military conflicts and atrocities. I had not specifically picked out scenes, maybe the firebombings, or i might concider the opening scene. However, if any of y'all had an idea i certainly be glad to hear it.

Its a good idea just be sure to comment that its biased torwards the Japanese veiw of the war. I personally found it to be fairly accurate account of how the Americans handled Japan, of course it was based solely in Japan so none of their (the japanese) actual campaigns came into play. The very beginning to about half way through is good stuff with the body burning and wartime confusion.
